February Events in Frankfurt
10 & 11 February - Karneval! - Childrens parade in Frankfurt on the 10th with celebrations starting at 12 noon on the Römerberg and main the parade and party on Sunday the 11th starting at 11am.
March Events in Frankfurt
(no date yet) - Easter market at the Dominikaner Kloster, Kurt-Schumacher-Str 23. A small market with lots of Easter decorations to buy. A small entrance fee is payable.
22 March - 14 April - The Spring Dippemess, on Festplatz at the Eissporthalle. A bi-annual funfair for all the family to enjoy. The link contains full details.
23 - 24 March - Freilichtmuseum Hessenpark. An Easter market selling all manner of easter decorations at this excellent outdoor museum. The museum is worth a visit at any time of the year!
April Events in Frankfurt
2 April - Tuesday Night Skating in Frankfurt - After a winter pause, the weekly skate through Frankfurt begins again on Tuesday April 2nd. Start point at the Hafenpark, at 8:30pm.
Until 14 April - The Spring Dippemess, on Festplatz at the Eissporthalle (see March post above).
May Events in Frankfurt
May 1 - A public holiday in Germany. Expect demos and events around the Römerberg in the old town, and the annual Eschborn to Frankfurt cycle race with the finish point at the Old Opera Platz.
Opening 1 May - Kobelt Zoo, Schwanheim. Official summer opening. Throughout the summer the zoo will be open on Saturdays and Sundays. (Also see the blog page Sunday in Schwanheim)
4 May - Night of the Museums in Frankfurt & Offenbach. Museums are open from 7pm until 2am and shuttle buses are provided to transport you around the city.
4 May - The 8th Frankfurter Riesling Tag, Gesellschaftshaus, Palmengarten, from 2pm - 8pm. The chance to taste a variety of Rieslings, all under one roof.
8 - 17 May - Opera Square Festival (Opernplatz) A festival of music, food and drinks in the heart of Frankfurt.
8 - 12 May- The Idsteiner Wine Festival, König-Adolf-Platz, altstadt, Idstein. A small wine festival in a very quaint town, a short train ride outside Frankfurt.
10 - 12 May - Wine Festival , Bad Homburg. Hosted along the main pedestrian high street, and local shops will also be open on sunday 21st May.
11 - 18 May - Green Sauce Festival, Roßmarkt, Frankfurt. Lots of stalls on Roßmarkt selling green sauce dishes and drinks!
25 - 26 May - Bergerstraßen Fest, Frankfurt. Between Bettmannpark and Höhenstraße various stalls with arts and crafts, food and drinks on sale.
22 - 31 May - Fressgass Fest. Local proprietors offer food and drink along the Fressgass for 10 days, creating a local and lively atmosphere into the evening. From 12-11pm daily.
18 - 21 May - Wäldchestag, Frankfurt City Forest (take the number 21 tram to Am Oberforsthaus). A funfair with live entertainment hosted in the Stadtwald.
17 26 May - Bad Sodener Weintage. A wine festival in the evening hosted in the Bad Soden Altem Kurpark. Open from 5pm til midnight.
June events in Frankfurt
5 June - JP Morgan 5km Challenge. Running from the Opernplatz, through the Westend. Grab a beer and watch them run by!
14 June - 14 July - UEFA EURO 2024. This year Frankfurt is the host city for Europes biggest football championship. Events and fan zones through the city centre.
July events in Frankfurt
5 - 8 July - Sekt & Biedermeier Festival, Eltville. Accessible by regional train (RB10 every hour from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof) Eltville hosts a lovely festival celebrating the sparkling wine of the region. The link also contains details of other festivals in the Eltville region.
12 - 15 July - Hochheimer Wine Fest, Hochheim. The S1 train runs from Hauptbahnhof every 30 minutes to Hochheim.
August events in Frankfurt
2 - 5 Aug - Mainfest - from the Römerberg to the river Main, the festival offers fair rides and fun for all the family.
8 - 11 Aug - Christopher Street Day, Frankfurt. Lots of fun to be had, often around Konstablerwache. Check CSD link for details.
9 - 14 Aug - Die Bernemer Kerb - Fünffingerplätzchen, Bornheim. A lovely, local festival, as ever, lots of wine and food!
18 Aug - Ironman Championship, Frankfurt. Expect city centre disruption, especially at the Römerberg where the main celebrations are hosted. (Guaranteed to be the hottest day of the year, too!)
9 - 18 Aug - Frankfurt apple wine festival - on Roßmarkt. Lots of different apple wines to try!
23 - 25 Aug - Museumsufer Fest - along the banks of the river Main - you can’t miss it! Finishes on Sunday night with a huge fireworks display.
28 Aug - 6 Sept - Rheingauer Wine Markt - along the Fressgass, a variety of vintners share their wine - some VDP producers too!

03 Oct - Jazz at the Römerberg - a public holiday to celebrate reunification and the the chance to enjoy free openair Jazz on the Römerberg.
12 - 13 Oct - Bad Homburg Havest Festival - in the heart of Bad Homburg, lots of stalls, things to eat and drink and Sunday opening for shops from 12 noon.

Farmer's Markets in Frankfurt
Frankfurt has some excellent weekly markets, many held in the city centre as well as the surrounding suburbs. For full details of market days, opening times and location use this link. The following is a list for city centre markets:
Mon to Sat - Kleinmarkthalle - 8am - 6pm (closes at 4pm on Saturdays). Located on Hasengasse. Closed on Sundays and public holidays!
Thursday - Konstablerwache farmer's market . On Konstablerwache, at the eastern end of the Zeil.
Friday - Schillermarkt farmer's market 9am - 6.30pm. Along Schillerstraße, very close to the Old Stock Exchange.
Friday - Flower market 9am - 6pm on Liebfrauenberg, in the city centre.
Saturday - Konstablerwache farmers market 8am - 5.00pm. On Konstablerwache, at the eastern end of the Zeil.
Frankfurt Weekly Flea Market
The weekly flea market is hosted every Saturday at alternate sites: at Lindleystrasse (Osthafen) and along the south side of the River Main (between the Eisenersteg and Holbeinsteg). For full details and dates use this link.
Organ recitals in Frankfurt
Organ recitals at St. Katharine's Church, Hauptwache, Frankfurt. Every Monday and Thursday, at 4.30pm, the church hosts a 30 minute recital by organist Martin Lücker. Free entrance - so show your appreciation and make a donation.
